Artist Statement

When I create art, I do it as an escape from reality. My art is usually a pleasant subject, something great for a mental vacation.
I mostly use my own experiences and photographs for inspiration, however sometimes I will paint from ideas or dreams.
When I paint I usually work from a few different photos, and I assemble them in my painting like a montage. I will most often use a photograph
I took myself as the main part of the image, and then use aspects or pieces of other photos that I took, or photos I find online etc. for the
different objects, or even lighting in my painting.
I like to use bright cheery colors, Often changing the colors to look more like a sunny day. I will also edit out certain things that may detract
from an image, like telephone poles, industrial looking buildings etc. Anything that might take away from the cheery utopian feel.
When my paintings are finished, they often have an innocent feel to them, They look like they come from a world where everyday is a good day!
