I painted this after being told by someone that Snowy Owls nest on Georges Island in Boston Harbor. I used the marsh in my neighborhood as a reference, and the view across the Fore River Estuary looking towards Quincy Massachusetts for the background of the painting. I painted the owl and birch tree from a photo, and made up the clouds and moon. If Snowy Owls do nest on Georges Island, I imagine this must be what it looks like.
